LaserCut Cardboard Chair
During a course my sophomore year, Fundamentals of Business Entrepreneurship, I teamed up with two other students to found an experimental miniature startup, named SnapSeat. We designed a chair made entirely of lasercut cardboard, and marketed it online and at our college. I was the main engineer, maintaining the structural integrity of the chair while minimizing cost. I also played a role in marketing our chair to the masses.
Our final product could support over two hundred pounds, could be packed flat for easy shipping, and had a material cost of merely four dollars. Our greatest production cost as actually just the labor cost of having two people operating the laser cutters at any time during production. |
